Renting a holiday home in the Costa brava is a popular option for many tourists as there are so many properties on offer both from private owners and rental agencies. The most sought after summer month is of course August and prices can vary hugely, depending on the resort / location. Apartments and flats with a sea-view fetch a premium rental and you’ll also be competing with locals and other Spaniards who flock to the numerous coastal places.
Early booking will make sure you get the dates you want but late bookings could save you a good few quid, as desperate owners will often accept a deep discount just to get a firm booking. We’ve managed to get good deals like a week in L’Escala, a 2-bed flat, 2 minutes from the beach, for 500 euros all in.
Rural Tourism. If you prefer a rural setting then there are also many Catalan farmhouses, called Masias to rent. The Girona tourist office will have plenty of leaflets or try looking at www.gironarural.org Many of the owners have their own websites too. We can highly recommend one place we’ve rented near Banyoles called Mas Roca, www.masroca.com with nice owners, well appointed and fairly priced.
